True quartzite is generally hard and durable, but slabs sold under similar trade names can behave differently. The actual material, finish, resin treatment and natural structure should be considered before it is chosen for a project.
Natural durability
Many true quartzites provide excellent hardness and wear resistance for properly planned interior countertop applications.
Layout matters
Vein direction, adjoining pieces, seams and waterfalls should be planned from the actual slabs before cutting begins.
What to know
Ask what the material actually is.
A sales name alone does not always tell you how a slab will perform. Stone Lab focuses on the actual stone, its structure and realistic care expectations rather than relying only on a label.
- Inspect the full slabs for color, veining, resin, fissures and repaired areas.
- Most quartzite should be sealed and cleaned with products intended for natural stone.
- Natural fissures and mineral changes are not the same as fabrication cracks.
- Complex movement and waterfalls may require additional material for a thoughtful layout.
